Bio: Hi, I'm an Associate Professor in the College of Innovation & Technology. This is my second year at UM-Flint. Before that I spent 5 years at Oakland University in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. I received my PhD in Information Systems from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Broadly speaking, I research human-computer interaction with expertise in designing software to mitigate risk of harm and enrich social life. I've taught at the college level for 22 semesters at three other universities: Oakland University, Montclair State University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Every semester I modify/improve my courses to maximize your chances of getting an awesome high-paying job. My former students have earned industry positions at Facebook, Spotify, IBM, AT&T, Audible, and other cool places based on the skills that I teach in my classes. Several have gone on to publish peer-reviewed research by also participating in my research lab.

I am a student-centered professor. My first priority is your success--academically, professionally, and personally. I am not your enemy. It's not me vs. you. I take no joy in my students struggling with the course material and their academic life more generally. We are on the same team and I really, really want you to succeed. Beyond teaching you the course material, I am also happy to provide the following things to you:

Job/internship preparation. You're in college because you want to get a great job right? I'm happy to review your resume and cover letter, help you find job opportunities, and prepare you for interviews. I've been in contact with the companies you want to work for, I know what they want, and I know how to maximize your chances of getting that dream job. Take advantage of my insight!

Research opportunities. I have a research lab on campus and I am more than happy to provide you my resources for projects that you are personally interested in/want guidance on. Of course I have my own projects and I'm happy to get you involved in those as well! The point is - I won't force you to work on the things that interest me. If you have a passion for a project, I want to help you pursue that vision in any way that I can. Let's talk!
