Canvas of the Future Project Instructions + Grading Rubric
*Note: this is a group project. Any submissions related to this project should be done by, and submitted as, a team. Everyone in your group should submit the same materials.

Hello members of the Canvas User Experience Team,
Happy new year! It is with great pleasure that I announce that our User Experience (UX) Team at Canvas has grown to 100 employees across our primary roles of UX researcher, UX designer, and usability assessment expert. Our major initiative this year will be to produce a new platform for fully online college education that utilizes virtual reality as the primary medium for education. We are codenaming this project "Canvas VR." We have learned from confidential sources that our competitors at Moodle and Blackboard are also pursuing a VR-based platform; we must be first to market to retain and grow our market share. Towards this need for urgency each employee will be assigned to a dedicated team for either 1) UX research, 2) UX design, or 3) usability assessment.
The UX research teams are charged with amassing insight about college students' experiences and needs for online education of the future. They will do this by collecting and analyzing empirical data from current college students about their prior experiences with online and hybrid education. Their primary deliverable is a set of qualitative UX research findings about key problems and needs with online education of the future.

The UX design teams are charged with utilizing the UX research findings to rapidly ideate solutions to the problems and needs of college students for Canvas VR, along with rapidly prototyping their best solution idea in preparation for handoff to the usability assessment teams.

The usability assessment teams are charged with incorporating the UX design teams’ prototypes into rapidly-conducted usability testing protocols to produce insight that informs iterations and improvements to the prototypes’ design.
